Mount Adams and Spirit Lake from Johnston Ridge Trail #207. During the eruption, a super-heated pyroclastic flow slammed into the lake, raising the bottom by 200 feet and spraying boiling water 900 feet up the surrounding valley walls. Felled trees were washed away, and you can still see them floating in the lake today.
