From the shore of Spirit Lake on Harmony Trail #224, the north face of Mount Saint Helens rises above the fast-moving clouds. In the foreground, thousands of dead trees float on the lake. The green plants on the ridge in the middle survived because they were shielded from the blast by being on the north side of that ridge.
